The Finest Hour:
A Luxurious State of Mind

Casa de Hilton is pretty much just as you would imagine it to be, but better. It’s completely decked out with mirrors – mirrors on all the walls of the bathroom, the closet, on the dining room table, surprisingly not anywhere in the bedroom. Also glass dogs, giant portraits of Paris, an amazing swimming pool/cabana, and of course, a stripper pole placed so subtly in the middle of the living room square coffee table. Way to keep things classy and awesome, Paris.

Who: A marvelous production duo consisting of Harrison Mills (CatacomKid) and Clayton Knight (BeachesBeaches).
Scene: Seattle, Washington.
Sounds like: A trippy mindfuck of a dream where I’m chasing down a turntable wielding white rabbit. And the deeper I head down the rabbit hole, the more I find myself beautifully transfixed in an ambient electronica dream that I never want to leave.
Why they’re awesome: ODESZA possesses a very impressive sampling prowess, combined with flawless sound production and an innate ability to refix anything to sound amazing. Put that all together and you’ve got a delicious atmospheric electronica pie that everyone’s dying to stuff their face in/know the recipe for. This duo will leave anyone in a mesmerizing state of mind with just one bite.
And why they’re EVEN MORE awesome: They’re letting everyone download their album, Summer’s Gone, for absolutely free (you can get the album here). Uhm, these guys rule. So hard. Which is why we featured them in not only our Designer Hot Minute with Maodern Vice but also in our Winter Lookbook Video, The Finest Hour.

Another season, another lookbook. The Finest Hour goes into Paris’ Hiltons house and on the top of the Rosslyn hotel for one luxurious lookbook. Our stylist Kat did yet another amazing job, so of course, we have to know all of her secrets….

The first inspiration from this lookbook was derived from the iconic movie Pretty Woman, without our model being a prostitute of course. We mainly wanted to focus on an average girl living this luxurious life for a day. She’s inside a mansion literally having a party by herself with all these amazing clothes. It’s kind of like every girl’s dream, right?
The first time I heard about the idea of trying to shoot at Paris Hilton’s house I told the team they were shooting for the stars…literally. So, hearing that we got the place I was ecstatic! I think for the most part during the shoot, I was trying not to drool over each room. After the shoot, all I wanted to do was redecorate my house.
The best part of the shoot for me was definitely the balloon scene. It literally involved 6 people on all fours grabbing and throwing the balloons, while dodging the camera and avoiding hitting the model in the face. I’m sure there’s an awesome behind the scenes shot of us looking like mad men floating around somewhere. Hopefully nobody finds it.
A thunderstorm surprised us while we were shooting on the roof, but actually, in a weird way, worked out to our benefit. Made SoCal definitely feel more winter-ish with the gray skies and wind, I’d like to say we planned it that way but I’ll give credit to Mother Nature, along with the rainbow.

1.Kind of weirdly obsessed with the jacket
in this look. Ever since we got the piece,
every outfit I put on, I’m like “this would be
better with the jacket." I love how it can
easily dress down any look, such as the
sequin shift dress. Shop the look here.
2.Tereza killed it in this look Loved how the mixture of print worked! We decided to add a simple knit layered underneath the bustier to dress down the
look a bit and much less
"va-va-voom". We love our girls
sexy, but effortlessly sexy is key.

3. Uhm hello major slit! How can you not love a good slit in the front, especially on a deep maroon colored skirt. I swear anything in this color is a GO for me! This is a definite fave for me because of the dressed down comfy look, which includes party elements with the sequin top and statement necklace. This outfit kind of sums up the entire concept of the lookbook in a nutshell. Shop the look here.

- Use a highlighter instead of a shimmery shadow like Candlelight Pressed Powder. It will give you a natural sheen.
- To have the appearance of fuller lashes, line in between your lashes to avoid that unwanted flesh line between the mascara and the liner. Try Too Faced 3-Way Lash Lining Tool to get to those hard to reach areas.
- To add a more natural color to your lips use a stain instead. I love to dab some Creme and Cheek color in prime and poppy from TF in the middle of the lip and then blend it going outwards.
- A sheer base gives you a healthy glow. I love using the Amazing Face Oil-free Foundation with the fluffy synthetic brush.
- Finish any look with a few coats of Lashgasm!

If you didn’t already know, shooting on the rooftop of The Rossyln Hotel was bloody epic. Like lightning and thunder epic (seriously though). Honestly, we were more afraid for the camera and video equipment than for our own safety. Thankfully, no one got hurt and nothing was damaged, and we got a sweet stormy winter-esque look for The Finest Hour (win).
As we waited for the rain to stop, we got some cool shots inside the hallways and rooms (confetti fest). Once we were given the all clear, we raced up to the rooftop only to be greeted by the most phenomenal view of downtown Los Angeles. And that gorgeous old school hotel sign alone made it all worth it in the end.
Thanks to Cap Equity Locations for letting us shoot here!
