Adventure Theatre MTC

Adventure Theatre (founded in 1951) and Musical Theater Center (founded in 1986) merged to form Adventure Theatre MTC (ATMTC) in 2012. Located in Glen Echo Park in Glen Echo, MD and The Wintergreen Plaza in Rockville, MD, ATMTC cultivates new generations of artists and audiences by creating memorable theatrical productions and by providing young people the highest quality musical theater training. ATMTC serves students at all skill levels and families from diverse communities--approximately 75,000 people annually. With more than 3,200 members, L'Alliance Francaise de Washington, D.C., is a nonprofit, non-governmental cultural and educational association headed by a Franco-American Board of Directors. It is a 501(c)(3) not subsidized by the French government. L'Alliance Francaise de Washington is a French village in the heart of Washington that offers a special place to learn French and discover Francophone cultures, challenge and enrich our views of the world, reach across differences, and celebrate our common humanity. American Association for Justice
The American Association for Justice works to promote a fair and effective justice system. It also supports the work of attorneys in their efforts to ensure that any person who is injured by the misconduct or negligence of others can obtain justice in America’s courtrooms, even when taking on the most powerful interests. The association currently seeks political outreach interns.
AmeriCorps NCCC is a full-time, team-based, residential, national service program for men and women ages 18 to 24. The mission of AmeriCorps NCCC is to strengthen communities and develop leaders through direct, team-based, national and community service. There are a variety of project areas, including natural and other disaster response, infrastructure improvements, environmental stewardship, conservation, energy conservation, and urban and rural development. In 2012, the Corporation for National and Community Service partnered with FEMA to launch FEMA Corps. FEMA Corps teams are devoted solely to FEMA disaster response and recovery efforts. AmeriCorps NCCC is currently recruiting full-time corps members, team leaders, FEMA corps members, and FEMA corps team leaders.
The Chol-Chol Foundation is a nonprofit Chilean-based organization that works in the Ninth region of Chile to provide education and technical assistance to individuals in poor, rural, indigenous communities. The foundation offers small-scale loans and marketing support to indigenous weaving cooperatives. The U.S. board provides marketing and fundraising support, primarily in the Washington, D.C., area and currently seeks interns.
Cont3nt.com is an exciting startup working as a platform for photo and video journalism. We enable media companies and citizen journalists across the world to market and sell their work to major media companies like CNN, BBC, and Al Jazeera. Cont3nt focuses on disrupting existing media markets to help empower journalists to have more control over their content and their compensation. We have over 20,000 journalists in over 500 cities worldwide in our system, in addition to the world's largest directory of news media publications and companies. We help citizen journalists in the Arab Spring, anti-rape documentarians and activists in India, and human rights reporters in places like China and Pakistan get their stories out to the world. We are currently offering internships for interested students.
Current is the paper of record for public media professionals. We cover all aspects of public radio, public television, and nonprofit journalism organizations, including programming, system governance, funding from the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, and public media's presence on Capitol Hill. We publish a biweekly print newspaper and frequently post stories on current.org. Current is an editorially independent publication of AU's School of Communication, and participates in the school's Dean's Internship program, hiring one or more SOC students per semester for paid work. Interns play a valuable, hands-on role in our newsroom. They write stories, post to our website using WordPress, assist in the print edition's production process, and participate in editorial meetings.
Earth Day Network
Earth Day Network (EDN) is a driving force in steering environmental awareness around the world. Through Earth Day Network, activists connect, interact, and have an impact on their communities, and create positive change in local, national, and global policies. EDN's international network reaches over 17,000 organizations in 192 countries, while the domestic program engages 5,000 groups and over 25,000 educators coordinating millions of community development and environmental protection activities throughout the year. Earth Day is the only event celebrated simultaneously around the globe by people of all backgrounds, faiths, and nationalities. EDN is currently offering Earth Day internships for interested students.

From 30-second television spots to 30-minute nature documentaries, we offer a full range of production, post, and creative services. Prevent Human Trafficking Institute
Prevent Human Trafficking Institute (PHT) is a D.C.-based nonprofit, working to build a bridge between Southeast Asia and the United States to prevent human trafficking. It is the second oldest anti-trafficking organization established in the U.S. PHT uses new media and technology to educate, advocate, and empower individuals, organizations, and governments to tackle the root causes of human trafficking and also provides direct support and technical assistance. PHT uses its expertise and networks to promote best practices and inspire sustainable solutions in the movement to prevent human trafficking. PHT is currently offering social media and design internships.
PS Charities is a nonprofit organization that provides financial assistance to meet specific needs of military families and patients affected by cancer. With the support of its corporate sponsors and private donors, PS Charities is able to dedicate 100% of its public donations to its cause. Spanish Education Development (SED) Center
Spanish Education Development (SED) Center is the first accredited bilingual preschool in Washington, D.C., and nationally that serves children of immigrants. SED teaches students English, improves their Spanish, and prepares them for public school. SED also has adult education programs including a highly respected ESL program. The SED adult program provides classes, GED preparation, U.S. citizenship exam preparation, and computer training.

Ten Thousand Villages Alexandria, Virginia is a fair trade retailer of artisan-crafted gifts, home decor, jewelry, personal accessories, textiles, and art and sculpture from across the globe. Featuring products from more than 130 artisan groups in some 38 countries, we are part of a network of more than 390 retail outlets throughout the United States selling Ten Thousand Villages products. For more than 60 years, Ten Thousand Villages has been establishing long-term buying relationships in places where skilled artisans lack opportunities for stable income. All artisans are fairly paid for their products. Ten Thousand Villages Alexandria is currently seeking a fair trade outreach intern interested in gaining experience in the global fair trade movement.
USAction is a national progressive grassroots organization that works with over three million members and statewide affiliates in 21 states to mobilize citizens around a wide range of progressive issues, including health care, public education, tax/budget issues, democracy reform, immigration, and voter participation. The USAction Education Fund (USAEF) is a national leader of efforts to increase civic and voter participation. USAEF provides information, training, and technical assistance to grassroots organizations to increase civic and voter participation among traditionally under-represented constituencies. USAction is currently seeking interns interested in working on key federal and state issues.
